Deodorizing shampoo but does nothing for dry, itchy skin
Yes, this is an outstanding deodorizing shampoo for dogs. The scent is long-lasting as well. Even if your dog goes out in the rain, you are not presented with that "wet dog" smell--the scent of the shampoo is renewed by the rewetting. I discovered the downside of this shampoo with our current dog. She has a tendency toward dry, flaking, itchy skin and the Fresh n Clean does nothing to alleviate this condition. It actually exacerbates it, causing her to scratch and chew and lick. This, in turn, causes her to start to smell bad which leads to more frequent shampooing which leads to more itchiness, chewing and scratching. You get the idea. It's a self-perpetuating cycle. After several attempts to use various shampoos designed for dogs with itchy skin, I finally settled on using Sulfodene shampoo in conjunction with Fresh n Clean. The Sulfodene has a strong sulfur odor that is pretty unpleasant on its own. When used with Fresh n Clean, this sulfurous odor is reduced...

My groomer turned me on to this shampoo when I asked what wonderful-smelling product she was bathing my cairn terriers in! They smelled incredible for a long, long time after they came from the groomer! Her secret, in addition to the shampoo, was to dilute the conditioner with water, pour it over the dogs as a final rinse, and not rinse out.
