Not as pictured but still very nice
there is no hinge on the 2.5 gallon lid, how ever it is light and fits perfectly into the aquarium top. So notches in the corner would make it a 5 star in my opinion, I have a heater and an air filter in my tank and it keeps the lid from sitting flush in the rim of the tank. But it keeps the evaporation down to a minimum and helps to keep the heat in the tank as well. keeping my Betta's tank at a steady range of 78-80. It also keeps him from making a flying leap out of the tank which is sadly the reason my last fish died.
The picture is WRONG but the product is fine...
The picture is for the bigger tops with hinges and plastic. The 2.5 gallon lids are just a piece of glass with a handle, so just know that before buying. The lid is what it is so no complaints here. I will try to post a picture of the actual product so people know what they are buying...
Ok for turtle tank but not fish
The product needs to be plastic that can be cut or have notches to be able to punch-out spaces to allow for the filter, heater, etc. Not the seller's fault but the product needs significant improvement. I've searched all over the web and NO ONE makes a standard black lighted aquarium hood in under a 5-gallon tank size. Someone REALLY needs to offer one for these 2 1/2 gallon kids fish tanks and those of us in small spaces. Not sure what I'm going to do with this solid pane of glass; I'll have to try hardware stores to see if I can find someone with a glass cutter I can pay to cut out some sections for me. Otherwise, this thing's useless to me.
